Goodbye Syd

I read this new a few hours ago. It makes me very sad, and I'm sure that thousands of people all over the world are feeling the same way. Syd Barrett died a few days ago at the age of 60.
This old funny promo clip of Pink Floyd's first single show him as I like to remember him. He was very young and seemed to be happy with his friends.
In the last years Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett chose to live a quiet and retired life. We can't know for sure if he was really sadder and crazier than us.
There's not much to say without being rhetorical, I just wish he could hear me saying goodbye and thanks a lot. You won't be forgotten and your music will live forever.

Pink Floyd - Arnold Layne (1967)

A very sad day indeed and I am pleased to see you have paid tribute Mirco with this. This film shows Syd a while before everything went crazy and here he looks fresh and dynamic. Certainly the best way to remember this truly unique talent.

Many have copied or amulated Syd but one thing is for certain - Syd sounded like nobody else and that is also what makes his passing all the sadder.

the truth is i'm almost speechless...i didn't know about it...
while i've been discovering loads of great music from all over the world all these years,i never doubted that if i had to choose one record it would be and always will be "The Piper at the gates of dawn"...
Syd will always occupy a special place in people's hearts!

I just found out about Syd's passing on Yahoo moments ago. I too am sadened, but I know
where ever Syd now is, he is finally at peace.
Syd, along with Skip Spence, were two brilliant but tragic figures. The music they have
left us will continue to inspire and influence.

The only "box-set of Cds" that i ever paid has been "Crazy Diamonds" from Syd Barrett, and it was a fantastic choice.

Always we´ll have his legacy!

Ciao
