The Best Song Ever?
Everyone of us music fans had recorded on tape, or just imagined, a compilation of his favourite songs ever. I think we all agree that these compilations can change with the changing of our mood, but there are some artists and some songs that are just essential, unavoidable. Tim Buckley is one of these artists and Song To The Siren is his best song to me. This version of the song, in particular. Song To The Siren had been first recorded in 1971 on the album Starsailor, a work on which his music get close to avant-garde and free-jazz. On 1967 Tim had already performed the song on the Monkees' TV show, accompanied on his 12 strings guitar only. This bare, simple version exalts even more the touching beauty of the melody, of his amazing voice, and the poetry of the lyrics.
An absolutely unmissable clip, if you are not moved by this it means you have a cold stone instead of a heart!

I have to say that is a little frustrating to see how such a small amount of people connecting and downloading from this site remember to leave a comment. Many comments report problems in downloading. I am sorry if the process is a little complicated, this is just because, since the beginning, I have always had to defend my blog from leechers and trolls. I have no problems in trying to offer some "technical assistance", but I would also like to know more of your opinions about the videos. The purpose of making a blog is interaction, share a passion with some people out there. Otherwise I think I'll soon end up feeling a lack of motivations...

I have no Camel's videos, but I think I will find some...
thank you for all the great music videos.
they are greatly appreciated
you are right...this version is much more soulful than the album version. viva tim and jeff buckley...
I know that version, it's good, also because they didn't try to imitate Tim, which would be impossible...
I also remember nice covers of Syd Barrett and Big Star...
Thanks and see you soon
Please keep on exposing your video archive to us!
I discovered those 'Rapidshare-Blogs' just a few weeks ago and since then discovered so much amazing music like never before in my life - f.e. Gal Costa and other Tropicalia

To see the videos of her and Os Mutantes on this site after being ravished by the albums was unbelievable!
Thank you!
Great clip, and surprisingly high quality. I've been really enjoying seeing your 1960s videos - many thanks, and please keep going!
I'd particularly like to see any folk-rock flavoured clips, such as early Fairport Convention. The Fotheringay clip you posted, for example, was excellent.
Peter, have you seen also the Pentangle's clip and the Incredible String Band's one...?
That's true "c", so many blogs offering good stuff, there is almost not enough time to listen and watch everything...
Bye ;-)
" ... have you seen also the Pentangle's clip and the Incredible String Band's one...? "

yes!!
I still remember the first time seeing/hearing Tim Buckley on The Monkees. "Song to the Siren" is among the most beautiful songs ever. And THIS SOLO VERSION being the definitive version in my opinion.
I was learning guitar in those days (the late 80's) and had the video of this on my vcr. I kept watching this over and over trying to learn the chords and fingering positions.
It took a while since I was a beginner then but I did finally learn the song.
I still play "Song to the Siren" from time to time and it never ever gets tiring.
I created an instrumental arrangement of this song for 6 string guitar which I really like. I kept it very close to Tim's original version.
thanks for the clip...

Nice to see that this wonderful clip is having success...
Oi Greggy...do you think he is miming?! It looks like a live performance, Son To The Siren had not even been published yet in '67...
MANY thanks for your great site! You have found things that I never even knew existed...and with you all the way on 'Song To The Siren', wonderful song....
Thanks thanks thanks!!!

Its a good cover version and excellent blog.
Amazing to see this wonderful footage after so many years. Thanks so much for sharing. I was first turned on to Tim Buckley through "I Must Have Been Blind," on Zapped (an interesting hodge-podge of artists on the bizarre/straight lable, some produced by Zappa). Many years later I caught Jeff Buckley solo at Uncommon Grounds in Chicago. Like father, like son: such talent.
Yo-
Thank you so much for the Tim Buckley vid--I'd never seen him perform, and only knew him from his recordings.
What a rare treat.
empty file =(
The file is not empty...open it and read it, it'll tell you what to do...
Thank you!! Amazing quality considering the time. Very moving, no cold stone here.
Avevo già visto questo clip dal mulo, secondo me è migliore della versione del disco...
